How to Use MTN Points in Nigeria | 2023 Full Guide

how to use mtn points

Hey guys, in this post I will show you how to use MTN points. MTN, being the biggest telecommunications company in Nigeria, is known to offer lots of freebies.  MTN pulse point is one of them. This is a way for MTN to reward customers for purchasing their different services.

Though unknown to the average MTN user, MTN points have been around for quite some time. It’s probably not too popular because MTN didn’t give it enough publicity, I guess. Well, in this post, I’ll be teaching you how to use MTN points to do these things: purchase data and airtime for free.

Before I continue on how to use MTN points, I did like to explain what MTN Point is to many that have maybe received a point SMS but don’t even know anything about it.

What Is MTN Point?

MTN Point, or “pulse point,” is MTN’s way of rewarding a customer for frequently purchasing their services. When you purchase services like airtime and data frequently enough, MTN will reward you with points that can be used to buy data or airtime when you’ve gathered enough. Also, when you migrate from other tariff plans to MTN Pulse newly, you can get rewarded too.

However, the MTN points reward is not for all MTN users but only for MTN users on the MTN pulse tariff plan. If you want to enjoy this service, you need to dial *406*1# to switch your tariff plan to MTN Pulse if you are yet to. Here’s a breakdown of how to use MTN Point and how it works.

Let’s say you purchase N100 worth of airtime and get 10 points. Once you’ve gotten those 10 points ten times, that’s equal to having N100, as 1 point is equal to N1. You can exchange it for airtime or data worth N100.

Here is a list of things you can do to earn Pulse Points.

Data Bundle Purchases:

  • Daily Data Bundles
  • Weekly Data Bundles
  • Monthly Data Bundles

Social Bundles:

  • TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp data Bundles
  • Transfer of airtime and data via the MYMTN NG app

Voice call:

  • You earn 1 pulse point for every 5 minutes of a voice call.

How To Use MTN Points For Data

Below is what you need to do once you have gathered enough points and would like to purchase data with them.

  • Dial *406#
  • Select 7, which represents pulse points in your list of options.
  • Now, select 1 to redeem the data bundle.
  • You did see the list of bundles: daily, weekly, and monthly bundles. Pick according to your pulse point.
  • Remember to choose whether to auto-renew or not.

How To Check My MTN Point Balance

You might want to check your MTN point balance before deciding to redeem it for airtime or data. Here’s how to check your mtn pulse points balance.

  • Simply dial *406#
  • Select option 7, which is for pulse points
  • Reply with 4 to check the balance
  • You will receive an SMS shortly that will show you how many points you have in your account.

How To Use MTN Points For Airtime

There’s actually no direct way of purchasing airtime with MTN point.  The only option is to convert it to data. This is because MTN pulse point is like quasi-airtime; you can’t use it for voice calls, but you can purchase a data bundle with it just like you do with airtime.

Here’s how to use MTN points for airtime(to data).

  • Dial *406*7*1#

MTN Points Cheat

There’s no easy way to earn free MTN points. What you’ve got to do is continue purchasing services in large quantities from MTN.

One pulse point is equivalent to N1, so if you can earn up to 1000 of them, you can purchase airtime or data worth N1000 with them. You can also get free points by using the MyMTN app more frequently than by using USSD codes.

In addition, making video calls often enough can help you get enough coins faster. MTN rewards you with one point for every five minutes of video call; new MTN Pulse tariff plan users also get free points when they migrate from other tariffs. With this and other services you purchase, you can easily gather enough coins that are redeemable.

Bottom Line

MTN Pulse Point is an MTN initiative that was created to reward customers for their services. If you buy more MTN services, you get more pulse points. Though, as I mentioned, it only works for people using the MTN Pulse Tariff Plan.

You should also note that MTN points can expire at any time if you don’t use them. So, if you’ve got enough, you need to redeem it as soon as possible. I hope you now understand how to use MTN points. Visit again for more useful updates.
