How to transfer data from Glo to Mtn to Airtel to 9mobile

Looking to learn how to transfer data from Glo to MTN, and to another network? If yes, you are on the right track, and I’d like to show you how to do that in just a few steps.

Transferring data or even airtime from one network to another, maybe from MTN to Glo, Airtel to 9mobile, 9mobile to MTN, and so on. This particular topic is being searched for on a daily basis by many people on Google, who want to know if it’s possible and how to do it. Most times, they get either negative or incomprehensible answers to their queries.

Everyone knows the different telecom lines in Nigeria: MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9mobile allow their users to send data from their balance to a recipient using the same network. Not only data but also airtime can be transferred this way.

Now, the questions are: can I transfer data from my Glo line to an MTN user? What are the processes for transferring data from MTN to Glo, and other networks?

Come with me, as I give you valid answers to these questions and show you how to transfer data from Glo to MTN, to Airtel, and even 9Mobile.

New Update: As of 13th May 2023, MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9mobile announced that there will be a harmonization of their codes for Airtime, Data, and other services. What this means is: you can use one code to transfer airtime and data on MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9Mobile. Instead of the procedure in this post, all networks will use *321#.

Once this update is complete every other code will no longer work. These new shortcodes by NCC are to help users remember a single code instead of several codes. Until the harmonization is complete, the codes on this post on how to transfer data from Glo to other networks remains valid. Read on.

How To Transfer Data From GLO To Other Networks

If you want to transfer data from Glo to MTN or any of the other two networks, I’ll show you how to do it, but first, do you think it’s possible? Have you seen anyone do it before? Those are my questions for you.

Most networks in Nigeria operate separately; the only thing that unites most of them is phone calls and text messages, that is, a Glo user can call an MTN or 9Mobile user and also text them, and vice versa.

Aside from that, you can’t transfer airtime from your Glo line to other networks; talk more about transferring mobile data. It’s strictly Glo to Glo that works.

We hope that in years to come that might be possible, but for now, it’s a big no. So, if someone tells you it’s possible or asks you to dial a particular code that is false.

How To Transfer Data From Glo To Glo

Since this post is particularly on how to transfer data from Glo to MTN, and other networks, it may interest you to know how to transfer data from Glo to Glo. Yes, Glo to Glo is possible, like it is on other networks.

However, Glo’s data sharing is quite different from that of the other networks. This is because you can’t send from your balance directly to the recipient; instead, you add the recipient’s number as a beneficiary to your own data. This means that the data from your balance will be used simultaneously by the two of you until you remove the person as beneficial.

The amazing thing is that you can add more than one person as a beneficiary. Once your data finishes, the two of you won’t be able to access the Internet.  When you subscribe newly, the same thing continues until you have the person’s number removed as a beneficiary.

Here are the various methods and procedures for sharing data on the Glo network:

Using USSD code

  • Dial *777#
  • Reply with 1 for data.
  • Now reply with 2, which says “share data plan.”
  • Enter the recipient’s phone number.
  • Send.

Using direct code

Dial *127*00*recipient’s phone number#

Like this: *127*01*07067569087#

Using SMS

Open your SMS app. Set “Share (the recipient’s phone number)” to “127.” Like this: “Share 07037408438″ to “127”

Glo Me2u Transfer Code

Glo Me2U is a Glo service that allows Glo users to transfer airtime to other Glo users. With just a simple code, you can transfer airtime from your balance to your friends or family on the Glo line.

Before you can start using Glo Me2U, you need to be able to and know how to change the default pin for transferring first. Here is how to do it:

Dial *131*00000*new pin*new pin#. 00000 is the default pin. Let’s say your new pin is 12345, you dial *131*00000*12345*12345#.

Now, how to transfer airtime on Glo:

  • Dial *131#
  • Input the recipient’s phone number.
  • Select the airtime amount.
  • Input your transfer pin and
  • Press send.

Data Transfer Code

Having learned how to transfer data from Glo to MTN, and other networks, I would like to show you transfer codes for sharing data on MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9mobile. Note that, as you have read, you can only transfer data to users of your network.

MTN: *131*7*1# or *321#

GLO-*127*00*recipient’s number# or *321#

Airtel: *141**12*2#  or *321#

9mobile: *229*transfer pin *airtime amount*recipient’s phone number# or *321#

Bottom Line

It’s not possible to transfer data from MTN or Glo, or to another network. You can only make phone calls and send text messages to users of other networks. That’s the only affiliation between telecommunication networks in Nigeria.

I hope you now know how to transfer data from Glo to MTN. Visit again for more useful information.
